Hey dudettes – newsflash: I’ve been traveling a lot this summer. Oh please – it’s mostly for work don’t get too jaded and stop reading already! One thing really started to bother me while I was sitting in over 10 hours of traffic to and from Baltimore this weekend – I realized how hard it is to find something descent, let alone healthy to eat on the highway. Maybe it was the hangover or the heat, but really – where has all the good food gone? (in the voice of Paula Cole)
Well, the ONE place I feel like I can always count on is Panera Bread. They take fast food to a (better) level. I’ve always had a love for their Broccoli Cheese soup and Bacon Turkey Bravo sandwich. Good LORD that could cure a hangover. But if it’s calories you’re watching – they have an AMAZINGLY delicious line of salads, and now flatbreads! Plus, Panera was one of the original companies to actually post calories on site. Don’t believe me? Check it out. I know I can’t be the only New Yorker who is now dependent of seeing calorie counts everywhere. When I travel I have a mini panic attack because the menus aren’t telling me what to order.
So at 4 am I am heading to the airport to catch yet another flight to Texas to visit some clients. Dinner tonight? Panera Bread on the balcony. Listen up moms – you don’t always have to be super-mom. We all have days when we just can’t cook, clean, and look like a Stepford wife. And there are healthy, quick options out there!
Flatbreads Are Here

The Southwest Chicken Flatbread
So anyways, Panera Bread knows how much I love them, and of course asked me to try their new flatbreads, on them. (Thanks, Panera!) And I have to say I AM PUMPED because they are effin DELICIOUS and have way fewer calories than my go-to Bacon Turkey Bravo. I must also admit, this is usually what I get at Subway, and I am much more impressed with Panera’s version.
My favorite? Of course the Mediterranean Chicken Flatbread. Maybe it’s just because Astoria is so Greek? haha.

Bacon Turkey Bravo is my favorite too — but the Mediterranean Chicken Flatbread looks delish.
haha I have a hard time straying from the BTB. It’s a classic…
If it has turkey avocado in it, i’ll eat it. I’m more obsessed with their hazelnut coffee- I don’t know what they put in it, but it has me WIRED all day.
haha I need one of those RIGHT NOW. It’s 4 am and I am en route to the airport!
The kids say we want soup and bread, but we’ll have to try the Mediterranean Chicken Flatbread next time. Yum
haha the soup and bread is the BEST – you can pair a flatbread with soup too 🙂
