Maybe it’s age creeping up with me, maybe it’s stress, but getting a workout in, even if just 30 min of walking, everyday is what is helping me feel human. Maybe it’s just taking a few min a day for myself, but overall, working out has been a great stress reliever, a great way to detach and also, it doesn’t hurt to help you look better. But jumping in feet first to the fitness world has taught me something – it’s really more about what you eat than do.
And to be honest, I have been failing horribly at the nutrition part.
I would not eat my first meal until about 3-4pm after I picked up Max from school. Now that sounds crazy, but think about it – as a parent I get up and rush out the door to school, jump immediately on the train into the city to hit up a workout and/or meetings back to back to back and then rush right back to Queens in time to get Max. There is usually no time to pop in for any food. I was looking at the scale and wondering, WHY am I not eating much and yet not losing weight?
So I did my research and obviously (it’s easier to see other people’s problem’s than your own right?) eating this way was causing more harm than good. I know that eating a good breakfast is beneficial, and so can using “recovery drinks” after workouts. I chatted with Registered Dietitian Leslie Bonci, and she pointed out that simple drinks such TruMoo can be a great post-workout drink on-the-go. You don’t have to resort to $15 smoothies everyday.
Bonci stated, “Busy moms who work out need to keep up and one step ahead. That means being fit, fed and forward thinking! As multi-taskers, sometimes it is easier to do three things at once, and that is the benefit of TruMoo: fluid, protein, carbohydrates, as well as vitamins and minerals and of course great taste. Each serving of TruMoo provides 50% of the day’s calcium requirements as well as 40% of Vitamin D and 8 grams of protein per cup. Plus, it is so convenient. You can add it before a workout, or after, dress it up in a smoothie or enjoy stand alone and when compared to other sports nutrition products, it can’t be beat so get more and score with your pour!”
Who knew TruMoo? Right?
I found it serendipitous that after this chat with Bonci, I actually found TruMoo in the fridge of my pregnant friend who I was staying with in Pittsburgh, so I decided to give it a try after a rough boot camp at Mecca Fitness. And ironically, you can even use the cartons for some bicep curls. haha.
