I am never one to rat out on others – but as a mother THIS HAS ME FURIOUS.
We were driving up Hoyt Ave South across from Astoria Park heading towards the subway when I spotted this – two adults with their kid smooshed between them WITHOUT A HELMET on a motorcycle flying up the 3-lane street in the city. I had to do a double take because really?? This is happening? I thought I was back in the Dominican Republic! So I grabbed my trusty iphone and snapped this video – and then stopped at the local precinct, which is just 2 blocks away from where this is shot.
I showed the police, and they told me that they are probably from another country where it is legal. UMMMMMM – Ok, but last I checked, this was America, where it is NOT legal. So then they said – if they don’t see it, they can’t do anything about it. Now, in this video – you can clearly see the New York issued licensed plate and their faces. I would put money on it that they live local… so how hard would it be to run a plate and pay them a visit? What more evidence do you need? I am pretty sure I could do some digging and find them myselves by the end of the day.
I asked the police then if it was okay if I got drunk and drove home later – because if they didn’t see me, it would be okay right??
AM I WRONG HERE???? ISN”T THERE SOMETHING WE SHOULD BE DOING?
