Ok ladies, I know you’ve all seen it. If you haven’t – shocker – the beautiful Julia Roberts plays a hooker who has a billionaire fall in love with her. You know, typical everyday life.
A classic fairytale love story, but I mean, who doesn’t need another Cinderella story for faith on love and true romance? Especially in 2019.
Enter Pretty Woman: The Musical. The love story of 2019 – still with all the unrealistic expectations (and favorite lines!) from the movie with a stronger female role. Hint, Vivian doesn’t need a prince charming to rescue her from the slimy lawyer (just you know, life on the streets).
If you didn’t love this movie growing up – first off, you’re dead to me. Second, you’ll want to grab a friend (sorry moms, this show is not a kid-friendly affair) and enjoy this movie come to life on the big stage. With great talent like Samantha Barks as Vivian and Andy Karl as Edward, it’s a beautiful and believable romance unfolding in front of you. There are a few steamy moments which might have the single ladies in the audience re-downloading Bumble on the train ride home.
Favorite part? Prepare to be awed for the opera scene.
Second favorite? Pretty Woman-themed drinks at the bar!
Another fun fact? Bryan Adams wrote all the original music for the show (and you’ll be able to tell!). Trust me, your inner 90s child will love this show for more than the classic one-liner cameos.
And just one more cool thing to point out – Actor Andy Karl and Orfef (Kit) are married IRL. They met like 16 years ago on stage and have been together ever since. Swoon. A little bit of “real” romance behind the scenes makes the show even sexier.
