I received complimentary product from Orvis for this review.
As you age, your tastes in things change. You go from hating broccoli at age 5 to all you steam and eat at 35. You go from staying out all night and eating Katz pastrami at 5am to waking up at 6:45 on a Saturday am to go for a 10-mile run. That’s the joy of change. You can.
I have always been a tom boy. Literally – I could be comfortable in my ripped jeans, boots and pig tails everyday. I am pretty sure they called me Sporty Spice in high school (still not sure if that is a compliment??). Unfortunately I am a girl, and I live in NYC, AND you are reading this – so you expect me to have something epic. Luckily, right now athletes and outdoor gear are in style again – wait, you mean, climbing trees and running through pastures style is IN? So hipster. And there are brands out there that embrace this lifestyle. I must say, one of my favorite’s is Orvis – not only for the cute/realistic style of clothing they offer – but they have one thing that many do not – some of the best customer service in the world. Everytime I call them I am greeted with southern charm and the ability to help/fix any issue I am be experiencing – from returning a dress to finding out if another is available even if it’s out of stock.
Orvis has long stood for a connection to the adventure and wonder of the outdoors but has refreshed its collection to feature a refined style that proves functional and fashionable. Kicking off travel season for me means looking for great new spring/summer pieces that (1) travel well, (2) work for different temperatures and (3) transition well for day or night looks – and classic and casual.
Orvis Spring Line – The Outdoors is for Outdoor Lovers
Now that it’s finally nice out again – you are going to want a few key staples in your wardrobe that are functional for moving. Whether it’s hiking to Bushkill Falls in PA or just climbing the hill to watch some fireworks on the 4th of July, these pieces will move with you- and travel well, too.
This dress is a favorite because it can be dressed up or down – meaning it makes a great transition dress for packing on your next trip. Either taking in the sites of rural Turks and Caicos or sitting down for lunch in NYC, you can get a lot of versatility out of it. Plus, it’s light-weight for temperature change, including being breezy with long-sleeves.
Street Style
A lot of Orvis causal sweaters are great for cooler temps, but also on the beach with shorts or bathing suit bottoms (come on, hipster!). The mid-arm sleeve lets it roll from city streets to white ocean beaches (see where I am venturing to next come May). It’s also an easy, casual yet pulled together look for on-the-go moms.

Day to Night
A lot of city life is walking, so my favorite part of Orvis dresses? Pulling off the sporty spice look, of course. This dress is one of my all-time favorite day to night transitional pieces. This is my go-to when I know I’ll be walking a lot in the city and want to wear some sweet kicks PLUS still look sort of cute and shall I say, stylish. Plus, it’s easy to throw on a jacket to go casual (denium) or edgy (leather).
