Home is where the heart is.
But we haven’t been really feeling our home. It’s been a long 2018. It kicked off with us having to move unexpectedly, and in a matter of 15 days. Even in NYC time, that’s fast as F. Not to mention, I came down with the flu right in the middle of it. Like I couldn’t move from my bed had to have friends help with Max level flu.
And it was the worst winter.
And we just weren’t cozy here. I smudged the new place with sage before we moved in, but it just didn’t feel homey – it felt. Cold. So cold we had a $500 electric bill for January.
Things didn’t get any better so we just started to travel and spend less and less time in the apartment as usual.
But that wasn’t helping. I missed being home, and feeling cozy in an apartment I was spending thousands on each month. I felt the need to add a few new things to call it home. But in NYC, finding apartment-sized furniture that’s actually PRETTY and functional can be actually challenging.
Luckily I came across this beautiful blue velvet crush chaise lounge and ottoman from DHP Furniture. Now it’s become “fit for a king” as Maximo says. He loves that he can “put his feet up” after a long day of school. Plus, it’s actually a perfect addition to our living room for sleepovers as it adds a new “bed” for one more kid.
This weekend in Pittsburgh we picked up a few fun throw pillows to make it even cozier. And some plants. For the first time in months, I took a step back and realized – the home was finally a home. We felt cozy and happy. And now we curl up on “BIG BLUE” every night before bed and read a story together.
It’s given us our family time back.
So the moral of this story is: one thing can make a new ripple of happiness. “BIG BLUE” and DHP Furniture helped us finally piece our lives and home back together and make it worth coming home to every day. And this weekend for Mother’s Day, our plans are to do nothing – but spend time together on our new family member reading, coloring and watching Harry Potter movies.
So who is DHP Furniture anyways you ask?
Um, you’ll love them – Dorel Home Products (DHP) should be your go-to destination for all small space living furniture. From futons, mattresses, beds and dining tables, they focus on features that matter. They also deliver products that excel in design, quality, price and most importantly, multi-functionality. PLUS – it doesn’t come in a million pieces to put together like some other pieces and listen, time is a huge importance to us as well.
