It’s impressive how fast baby items can update and change – with innovation changing within months, attending shows and conferences like the NY Baby Show are necessary to see what’s new and up and coming. It’s also a really a fun job in the parenting world – who doesn’t like to test drive strollers and look at cute new onsies (baby fever, anyone?). But among all the tried and true and new products on the market, there are three areas of products you’ll want to focus on:
1. Breastfeeding
Breastfeeding is always a hot topic of conversation for new moms, and even recently, there have been many concerns over the benefits and trade-offs of breastfeeding. The Lactation Lab is a service to help “optimize” your breast milk. Mothers receive a complete nutritional breakdown of their breastmilk in easy to understand graph. Since the composition of your milk can affect your child’s growth and health, access to this type of information can help parents keep their kids healthy (and know exactly how many nutrients they’re getting!). Talk about high tech!
Keeping on the topic of breastmilk and its benefits, this newly designed Lactation Cookie mix is the perfect solution to induce lactation in moms. This specific formula uses a high source of herbs and vitamins to aid in the production of breastmilk to help those who see they aren’t producing enough milk (see above!) to be able to stay on breast milk longer before switching to formula.
Plus did you see the cool RV that is rolling around the US? Pumpspotting has decked out this fancy rider nicknamed “the breast express” to travel around the country this summer. Find out when it’s coming to a city near you here.
2. Car Seats and Strollers
Always a big topic with kids are what are the safest and innovative pieces out there. It’s still funny to think that we didn’t use car seats when we were kids, right? The advancements they have today are mind-blowing and with so many great and innovative brands out there, like UPPAbaby (who’s been one of our favorites since Max was a baby!). Or this Evenflo Pivot Xpand that boasts the ability to transition from one to two kids without the need for any tools or extra parts (converters are built-in, just buy the 2nd seat!).
3. Practicality
Being a parent means learning how to juggle your time all over again. It’s also a challenge to be able to find yourself and do things for you among all the overwhelming baby things that are overflowing your apartment. So it was great to see that this year many things are all about making life easier. From fold-up cribs that you can tuck away from Bloom, to the Primo Baby 2-in-1 Smart Voyager Swing that is activated by your baby crying (and even has controls on your smartphone!). Talk about getting a few minutes of your life back.
Move over bikers – you thought you were cool with those speakers blasting music down the city streets? Now Summer Infant has a stroller speaker and clip so you can watch your favorite reality shows, FaceTime or even rock out to your Spotify playlist to drown on baby cries as you try to walk them to sleep.
Brands we always love
There were also a few tried and true brands on-site that we’ve always been huge fans of that I wanted to mention. Babyganics is still topping the market with some of the best all-natural plant-based products, including a new insect repellent WIPE (yes, no more spray!). Mabels Labels are still a must-have no matter the age you can’t have too many labels to not lose things from sippy cups to shoes.
