Some of us are born with the crafty gene, some of us are not.
Some of us WANT the crafty gene.
Martha is here to provide.
Before Pinterest, there was Martha Stewart, and we Gen Xers had to actually watch television to understand the amazingness that Martha could create out of thin air. Few years and kids later, Martha is still creating things basically out of thin air – but she’s figured out how to make YOU (she’s pointing at me, the uncrafty crafter) pull this off as well.
It’s called the Cricut, and if you haven’t seen this machine yet, hold on to your panties. This special little magical box can make anything – we’re talking tee shirts, hats, cupcake holders, labels, PILLOWS! – basically anything your little crafty mind can dream up. You pick up some fun fabrics and transfer sheets (glitter, anyone?) and then use an app – and there you have it.
You can even make these printouts for pumpkins with the Cricut!
Ok so, there are a few more steps than that, but anyone who’s ever tried to hot glue something together something just took it to level def con. THIS IS FOR THE NONCRAFTER AS WELL AS THE CRAFTER.
Maximo actually made his OWN tee-shirt (see above) with the help of Martha herself. Disclosure, I was actually in celebrity shock and couldn’t speak let alone ask her for a photo of Max. It just seemed beneath her – so you’ll just have to visualize the memory I have of them discussing spiders as any six-year-old would and it was glorious.
Where do you get this Cricut?
Michael’s of course. And only at Michael’s can you get these really cute exclusive colors: sunflower, Peacock and Boysenberry. Retails for $249.
While you’re there – don’t miss out the accessories like the Cricut EasyPress. We tested this out and it was, well, pretty life-changing. Plus, you can still use it as a real iron.
Even better? Michael’s Kids
You guys – Michael’s just expanded into MichaelsKids.com. Now there is a dedicated website and over 600 new SKUs – in store and online – with brands like LEGO, Play-doh, Crayola and Barbie. Did you just hear the kids screaming for less screen time and more fun hands-on activities? Because I sure did. Anyways, now you have a Cricut to make fun holiday decorations and the kids get to help. What is more family bonding and cool than that?
