There is nothing to cheer you up during the cold, sad days of winter (especially THIS winter) quite like a Broadway show. Especially when it’s the award-winning show Kinky Boots. It’s perfect for ladies, gentlemen, and “those who are yet to make up their minds.”
You’ve probably heard of it on Broadway, but haven’t made it to getting tickets yet. Listen, if you don’t see this show before it’s gone, I’ll just say it – you’ll regret it. If you don’t want to take my word for it, it won over SIX TONY AWARD – including best musical. So why do you want to get out and paint the town “red?”
What Is Kinky Boots?
Based on true events (and MANY events we can relate to right now), this show gives a deeper look into humanity, accepting others for who they are, taking chances and many, many laughs. The sarcastic humor and quick wit written into the storyline and songs (PS – Cyndi Lauper helped write some of them!) make this seriously one uplifting play. Todrick Hall (Lola/Simon) is so seamless in “her” character, you’re sure to be singing “Sex Is In The Heel” on the train ride home.
Taking place in Northampton, London, there are many similarities between Charlie’s dad’s shoe factory and Pittsburgh, and the resistance to change and accepting things they don’t know. Let’s just say, the ending will have you shedding a few happy tears of joy and happiness – any maybe even opening your mind.
