Ahhh, football season. Is there any better way to enjoy carbs and friends at the same time? Yes, we definitely try to be healthy here but sometimes, well, tailgates and football aren’t exactly, er, easy on the waistline. And that’s okay, just like the Steelers, you can’t always have a perfect season. Since I was at the Steelers/Raiders game last week in Pittsburgh (and the game was literally a nail biter), I decided to throw a Black and Gold Football Party at home to keep up the momentum – as well as watch Ben back in action since we were all sweating over the fact he might be out – AGAIN.
So, you’ve seen me put together some of my favorite pieces for tailgating, but let’s be real for a minute – tailgating and football are all about hanging out and watching the game, you don’t have time to slave away in the kitchen – you could miss the next immaculate reception for crying out loud!
Jazz Up Your Pizza
I am slightly obsessed with the Red Baron Rising Crust Cheese Pizza. It’s literally so good, if my girlfriends didn’t see the box, they would just assume I made it myself, and I’m a big fan of delicious “fast food.” So why cheese you ask? Well for one, it’s a blank slate. It allows you to create your own masterpiece if you will. Who said frozen pizza had to be boring?!
Part of my parties always include creating something, and this one was about our own “slices” using the Your Sylce personal pizza slice maker. This is brillant for picky eaters who require only certain toppings on their pizza – they can make their own without feeling like a PITA (you know, pain in the a$$). Seriously, life changing – especially with picky toddlers.
And, okay you KNOW I had to slip in some healthy ingredients like Kale and Beyond Meat spicy crumbles…but listen, baked Kale on pizza is crispy and DELICIOUS. Try it and thank me. And quit drooling on your smart phone right now and head to the store and grab a Red Baron Pizza. Can you believe that above pizza came from my freezer? Totally did.
Runner up frozen pizza if your grocery store doesn’t have Red Baron: Freschetta thin and crispy. Oh, they even have a GLUTEN FREE pizza. Scratch that – get TWO pizzas (or three) and just ADD Freschetta to the list.
