Habits. It’s wild to think how they actually happen. One day you’re a few (okay maybe more than a few!) pounds overweight after pregnancy and then poof – you find yourself basically addicted to working out every day. And you get this weird itch on days you don’t. It’s not a guilty itch – it’s more like any other habit – if you skip coffee or sugar one day – you get cranky.
So healthy habits are attainable? Not just in your wildest dreams Taylor Swift.
I am not here to tell you to “find the time.” You’ll have to figure that out on your own. You have it if you want it. Some wonder how I do it – and I will be honest: living in NYC with hundreds of fancy fitness options make it a lot easier. But how do you navigate it and find the time?
ClassPass Vs. Crunch
I have been a AVID user and lover of ClassPass for about two full years now. Literally, you would have to break my leg and take me out of commission for a few minutes to make me stop. Even then, I might find a way to still go rowing or barre class but that’s another story.
Anyways, I am in love with the flexibility of available classes. Since I am an editor/writer/publicist, I am constantly running all over and my office is the coffee shop that I see walking down Lexington Avenue. So it never really occurred to me that a full gym membership might offer the same advantages.
I went in for a Jillian Michaels shred class at an UES Crunch location compliments of my friend and fellow NYC blogger Brianne Manz of Stroller in the City, and if I hadn’t walked in that door – I wouldn’t have realized that Crunch actually gives ClassPass a run for the money.
Here’s the breakdown.
ClassPass lets you choose up to 10 or so classes per month for a regular monthly fee. You can pop into boutique classes like FlyWheel, Exhale Barre Class on Central Park South or even Aerial Yoga and Anya. That’s pimp if you ask me.
Now Crunch – they have over 20 locations throughout NYC (AND PITTSBURGH! THEY EVEN HAVE ONE IN MONOREVILLE!) and for a monthly fee – you can visit ANY of them (yes, being able to go when I am back in da burg is a huge selling factor). So not only do they have the gym aspect, but they have your spin classes, barre classes, and YOGA. Plus they have fun little spa locker rooms and have always been associated with Bliss Spa so you know you get a little pampering before you run off to work after that sexy sweat session.
Cost? Basically the same amount per month – maybe like a $10-20 difference.
So – question is: Which is better?
That’s what I am trying to figure out right now…. I popped in for a 30 day free trial at Crunch to see if they might actually have what it takes to steal me away from ClassPass.
You know you’re curious. So stop back in about 30 days to see the full side-by-side comparison from your new fitness fanatic.
I went to a complimentary class at Crunch thanks to Stroller and the City but the opinions are my own. Thanks for supporting Football Food and Motherhood.
