I love this line from Brooks: A 30-minute run burns 100% more calories than a 30-minute sitcom.
With the NYC Marathon coming up this weekend, I’ve having major runner’s FOMO. Every year I wish I decided to run it, but then every year I just don’t know if I have the time to train for it (even though I run at least 3-4 times a week!).
So in honor of that FOMO, I decided to (1) participate in the NYRR Virtual Marathon – you can run 3.1 miles anytime between November 1-4, and (2) running in my newest and favorite running shoes currently – Brooks.
As a pretty solid runner, I thought I knew the type of shoe I was most comfortable in, and trust me, I can run for MILES in a lightweight Nike or New Balance. So, when I tried on the new Brooks 2019 collection (and actually went for a run in them in the rain right in downtown NYC AT NIGHT), I really put them to the test.
Running shoes are transformed into an art, and Brooks uses a lot of technology to really enhance your running experience, and find that perfect fit for every type of runner. If you’re just getting started, or just want to check if your gait has changed, it might be a good time to pop into for a new assessment of your running style.
These new Brooks BEDLAM shoes give more of a fitted support (and curve up on my heel a lot more) than I am used it. They felt bulkier at first, but as they claim to do, give more energy. I feel like I get more bounce in my step and can take off into a faster pace since I’m more supported. The Bedlam is built with Brooks best energy return, the DNA AMP midsole gives you back more of the effort you put in.
It’s just a really good reminder to shake things up and try new routes, routines (and shoes!). Are you sure you know what kind of runner you are?
I’m impressed with the full line up this season, from shoes to sports bras from Brooks. You can check out their full line here.
