This summer flew faster than Usain Blot in the Olympics. I don’t know about you, but back to school snuck right up on us and in two weeks, Max will start kindergarten. That means new school, new friends, new uniforms AND new grown up school supplies. #NotReadyToGrowUp. So we’re slowly transitioning into this new world of school-age life – thankfully with a little help from our friends over at Babblebox – and I wanted to give you some insight into some of the “cool” new things that are here to help you head BTS in style and stress less.
Wemo Mini Wi-Fi Smart Plug
It’s all about smart technology and making lives easier these days, and Wemo is here to bring you a fantastic new little gadget. It’s like the clap on/clap off light for Maximo’s generation. What does it do? You get a smart home by plugging in the Wemo Mini Wi-Fi Smart Plug which can then control all your devices from an app. Since NYC buildings don’t have overhead lights, this is AWESOME – we can finally turn on our house lights/bedroom lights without walking into a dark room. You can even control your appliances (like turning your heat on before you get home for a warm house without just having to leave it on all day and get an enormous ConEd bill) from anywhere in the world – from the subway on the way home to the airport in Colorado.
Where to buy: get 20% off your own first Wemo Mini Smart Plug using code WEMOfootballandmotherhood (expires Sept 30th)
Zoono GermFree24 Hand Sanitizer
I don’t think we really have to talk about how gross NYC can be. We just choose to ignore that but it’s always in the back of our minds. That’s why you always see moms with antibacterial hand sanitizer on them – it’s like mom 101 to carry this around with you. But when you kids are off to school, you can’t exactly SEE what they are touching all day. **Shudders.** But this new FDA-compliant, Zoono GermFree24 Hand Sanitizer does exactly what it says – protects for up to 24 hours! That’s through hand washing and everything. It does not rub off (even if you’re sweating waiting for trains three levels below ground). Why doesn’t everyone have 24 hour hand sanitizer is what I want to know.
Where to buy: You can grab some on Amazon here for only $6.99.
Pure Growth Organics – Animal Crackers, White Cheddar Popcorn and/or Crispy Rice Squares
Snacks. The forever battle. Trying to find something that is both somewhat healthy that my kid will actually eat is the every day struggle. I am a big fan of organic snacks (yes I am that mom), and these Pure Growth Organics crackers, popcorn and rice squares kids snacks are a great lunchbox solution. If you really want to take it there, the rice squares are even vegan and gluten-free. We’ve come a long ways from snacking when I was a kid!
Where to buy: Prime it! And you can even get it 20% off using code 2020BABBLE here.
OOLY Mighty Zipper Pouch with Jumbo Brights Neon Colored Pencils, a 2-in-1 Flip Side Notebook, Yummy Yummy Scented Gel Pens and an OOLY eraser
And it begins – the school supplies. PreK did wonders – Max can write his name, recognizes letters (upper and lower case), numbers and can even do some addition and subtraction. But that now means our house is FULL of fun notebooks, pencils, erasers and colorful pens and markers. OOLY makes a bunch of really cute school supplies (even for boys!), and even has a lot that can be used as art supplies. This notebook pictured above is actually a flip-side notebook – you can have drawing pages AND lined pages depending on what side you use. Brilliant.
Where to buy: Get 15% orders of $35 or more plus Free Shipping in US & Free OOLY Eraser with code READY here. (expires Sept 7).
Snip-its Tangy Apple 3-in-1 Conditioning Shampoo, Morning Miracle Mousse Styling Spray & Silly Slicker Ultimate Sculpting Gel
The season of simple outdoor summer showers is coming to an end, and it’s time for bedtime rituals and evening bath time routines. You can never have enough kids’ shampoo – let’s be honest. Just because I have a boy doesn’t mean his hair doesn’t get tangled and a mess. So having some professional kids hair products around is always handy. Snip-its come is fun smells that turn any stinky child back into a normal kid. Plus, the morning miracle mousse really is a morning life saver for bed head when you’re running late!

Teal Duck Tape®
They introduced max to tape at PreK last year and he’s been obsessed ever since. To save my stash of scotch tape (everytime I go to use it, it’s gone), I’ve purchased his own set of colorful tapes to cut, decorate and create with. So I was super excited to see some teal Duck Tape in here – it’s really an incredible multi-purpose tool. From keeping Max entertained (and artistic!) to having some sturdy tape on hand when I need it, there is no downside to having colorful duck tape in the house. We also may or may not have it in black and yellow. #justsaying.
