I still remember my first A&W Root Beer Float.
A&W Root Beer was a favorite of dads, and he no regards when teaching me how to love and perfect the root beer float. Ice cold mugs, soda and vanilla ice cream because a special treat between just him and I over the years, and I remember watching him carefully scoop the ice cream into the tall frosty mugs only to see it bubble up and froth up just for me.
It’s also no surprise that to this day, I still love A&W Root Beer floats. In fact, just this summer I introduced my son to the incredible results of mixing ice cream with soda. I’ve created a monster. But in a good way. Every time he asks me to make him a float, it makes me smile and think of dad. Who I bet is in-turn smiling back from Heaven.
Now just to find and introduce Max to those beautiful muscle cars that mom loves….
How to make the ultimate A&W Root Beer Float
You don’t need a lot of effort here – just be sure to keep some glass mugs in the freezer for when you get a hankering. The frosty mug is the best part. Add the A&W Root Beer first, and then top with a couple heapings of vanilla ice cream (warning – it WILL overflow and get messy and that’s part of the experience!).
You can always get creative with your recipe too – use a fun flavor of ice cream like smore’s and top with marshmallows. See a full list of fun recipes at rootbeer.com.
