Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Let’s Play, an initiative by Dr Pepper Snapple Group that provides kids and families with the tools, places and inspiration to make active play a daily priority by building and improving playgrounds and donating sports equipment to groups in need. Although I received compensation for this post, all opinions are my own.
Listen up PA! It’s time to represent your state and stand for something great – like well-deserved updated sports equipment for a local high school!
Being a former athlete (being on the dance line for football games counts, right?) myself, I remember how it was difficult to perform at your best with run-down fields and rusty equipment. Plus, it’s dangerous to be out there on broken black top in the summer heat trying to get the routines down before the start of Friday night lights. I remember we used to use the parking lot to practice a lot of those dance moves and high kicks – and kids, we deserve better than that!
So, if you had the chance to help someone out (and maybe even get a scholarship to college JUST because they could perform like the athlete they are) simply from a click on your phone from your couch, wouldn’t you?
Here’s why we need your help for PA:
Dr Pepper Snapple Group started a contest among high school students earlier this year to apply for a new school makeover – the winner gets $100,000!
The Let’s Play High School Makeover Challenge is the largest one-time donation of sports equipment that Dr Pepper Snapple Group has made as part of the company’s Let’s Play initiative, and will benefit student-athletes at underfunded high schools across the U.S. – including Philly.
Here’s how you can help:
Starting today (voting period is September 8-17), you can go and vote for one of 20 finalists (ahem, Philly!) here. A panel of Dr Pepper Snapple Group and Good Sports representatives will then select the winning high school out of the top 10 finalists with the most votes, where the winner will receive $100,000 in new athletic equipment!
CAST YOUR VOTE HERE: http://bit.ly/2wP8Nef
And keep an eye on social media through the 17th to see how the voting is going, and who will receive the updated equipment by following the candidates with the hashtag #LetsPlayHSMakeover.
