Burgers, beers and a good cause.
Last week I headed to the rooftop of Pier 92 to feast under the stars at the New York Wine and Food Festival (NYWFF) Burger Bash. Invited by JCPenney, I have to admit it was one of the best events I’ve attended in NYC this year. Numerous celebrity chefs including Rachel Ray, Robert Irvine and Alex Guarnaschelli and top NYC restaurants (like Smith & Wollensky’s, BLT and Rouge Tomate) all came together to compete for the best burger. That’s right – unlimited amounts of beef to literally eat your heart out. (Cue the meat sweats).
Rows and rows of burger stands awaited you to tempt you with their mouthwatering temptations – is that truffle oil I smell? After about five burgers, the meat sweats started to take over, but I must say, even though Burger Barrel took home the trophy, Smith and Wollensky won over my arteries.
Known for their incredible slices of beef, you can’t go wrong with a dry-aged Big Mac and spinach tots. They went straight to my heart – literally. We even jumped behind-the-scenes to see how those tasty pieces of meat were getting put together!
You have to wash all that meat down!
New Home and Kitchen Line at JCPenney
No to be missed, JCPenney had an amazing home decor set up – perfect for photo props. Lydia and I channeled our inner witches, while modeling this divine cheese plate and dome and coffee mug set (cob web and rat not included). You can also see a red KitchenAid toaster in the background that I am crushing on right now (available online for only $79!).
Since I am in the process of (slowly) updating my kitchen to be a grown-up and match (or shall we say, make it Pinterest worthy), I must say I was highly impressed with JCP’s fabulous line of home and kitchen decor and utensils. JCPenney is stepping up their game, and carries some of my favorite brands like KitchenAid, Calphalon, Cuisinart, Cake Boss, Keurig, Pfaltzgraff and Rachael Ray. Not to mention, cushy, homey, apartment-sized furniture. As you can see here, they were huge hits.
While it’s fun to get out and about on the town for a night, nothing goes better with watching the Steelers on a Sunday afternoon than an big cushy couch and burgers. And JCP wants to help bring our your gourmet chef with this killer Charcoal Companion Stuff-a-Burger two-piece set ($50 value). Yeah you heard me – stuff it – with cheese, bacon, truffles, maybe even mac and cheese and throw those bad boys on the fire!
P.S. all of these items can be found in-store (Queens Center Mall, yall) or ordered online for us city folk without cars (or you can always check out the Manhattan Mall in Herald Square!)
The best part of the event? Proceeds benefited one of my favorite programs, the No Kid Hungry campaign.
