As I mentioned before, once I heard the term “babymoon,” I was SOLD! Of course, any reason to travel and lay on the beach is good enough for me, and I can’t come up with any better reason than being 6 months preggo! Being that I was working in education, we had spring break coming up in April, so it was the perfect storm – baby moon, a full week off to go, so where to book???
We both love tropical so we opted for the Caribbean again, and found a great deal to the Dominican…. and that was all she wrote.
This time, we DIDN’T FLY SPIRIT. (word of advice ladies, DO NOT FLY SPIRIT PREGNANT! Not only did we pay $300 for our luggage fees, and it was dirty and I have photos of boogers on the seats to prove it, but there is NO ROOM. I have NEVER been so cramped and I was only 4 months pregnant at the time. And when I asked for more room cause I was pregnant, they made us both pay a $50 UPGRADE just to sit in the emergency exit aisle! That was “roomy” to them).
So we landed comfortably 3 1/2 hours later on US Air on Dominican soil.
My whole goal of this babymoon was to sleep, eat and sleep some more. Then eat some more. Then, well, maybe go for our morning walks 🙂 And it was perfect! We booked at the Lifestyles Tropical in Puerto Plata, all inclusive. So literally, we would wake up, go for a walk, eat, sleep on the beach, wake up, go eat lunch, sleep on the beach… you get the picture. For 6 whole days.
btw. I just had to throw in this photo for good humor. Anyone know where I can get a pair of those pants? LOL
PARALLEL LIVES.
One day I am sitting eating breakfast while Claudio is up browsing the buffet, when the girl next to me strikes up a conversation about my baby bump. Then I realize, she’s 6 months preggo with her first too. WAIT – and due on the SAME due date, WAAAAAAAAAAAAIT – and from NYC! GET OUT. Obviously we chatted it up the rest of our vacation sharing stories, comparing bump sizes and symptoms, talking baby talk while the dads to be bonded over El Presidente in the pool bar.
We had some dinners, rocked some serious sombreros, and planned to connect once we were all back in the city.
Now, I also find out – we have planned our baby showers in NYC on the SAME DAY, SAME TIME, SAME BOROUGH. Hers in Flushing, mine in Forest Hills, Queens. So we will have to find time to run off to each others haha.
OH – and I am sure you all saw Claudio on the Cover of the New York Post for that Mets game (no? here is it!) Well, Jessica’s husband Larry was at the SAME GAME too, and they didn’t know until they saw the cover.
PARALLEL LIVES? I guess let’s see if we have our babies on the same day too! THAT would really be freaky!
PREGNANCY AND THE PEE.
So it ended up being one of the best vacations ever! Except for that little stint of food poisoning on the last day. Let’s just say, pregnant women lose “control” of their bladder the bigger you get. I’ve heard of women peeing their pants from laughing! While I have yet to do THAT, throwing up is another story. Can you say, food poisioning = throwing up naked cause you pee yourself? Yep. I can’t wait for all you MOMS TO BE OUT THERE TO EXPERIENCE IT!!!!

LOVE THE PICS! (Especially the sombreros). Ok, so Jets, then Mets?! Talk about similar names. That is wild about the NYC parallel lives; that has to be more than coincidental!

haha well only STEELERS in this house, Kimmy! And I know – seriously – everything is parallel! Even both the dads are out of town this weekend, so we’re getting together for a baby show…

I was destined to meet my husband and I can say we just had to find each others friendship thousands of miles away. Great blog. We love it. The next trip we take will be with the babies. It’s going to be great having the two babies as friends. Enjoy your shower and lets see which baby comes first.
