Don’t’ be SAD.
It’s a real thing – and I 100% get it every year. Which is sort of ironic, but I really love winter, or well, snow. I love snow. But we don’t seem to get a lot of that around NYC – just freezing cold temps and winds when you have to walk around outside. That’s definitely sad, especially when the trains aren’t working.
So how does one avoid the ails of winter? Really it’s simple.
Winter is coming.
First, get out of denial. You can’t avoid it. You live in the northeast for a reason people (or okay, those of you warm loving people living in Florida right now or on Spring Break are like – what winter??). So be ready for it.
Protect #yoself
You wear seatbelts when you drive and you wear helmets now when you snowboard, but you’re not lathering up to protect your biggest organ before you head out into the blistering cold temps? You need to grab yourself a big ole’ bottle of Lubriderm and carry it with you everywhere. Look we’re not getting any younger (did you see that episode of YOUNGER when they realize she’s not really 23 cause of her HANDS?), so it’s important to keep your skin moisturized. And that goes for all of it – hands, feet, elbows AND toes. In fact, Advanced Therapy Lotion moisturizes skin for 24 hours, so you can use it once a day for protection against dry skin all winter long.
Get all hygge.
Embrace the winter. It’s snuggly and warm and full of layers, blankets and scarves and socks. Pop into Walmart this week and treat yourself to something cozy and a family-size bottle of Lubriderm (it’s only $6.97!). And have a little fun. What is better in cold temps than a hot shower or bath followed by a slathering session? Max and I even take it a step further – we give each other little “footsies” before bed (quality bonding plus a massage? Yes, please!).
This rich, creamy lotion is clinically shown to provide relief for extra dry skin, making it healthier-look and more resilient in just one week. That means if you’ve been outside chopping wood all of January or shredding powder in Park City there’s still hope for those chapped knuckles and windburnt cheeks.
Just my little motherly PSA for the day.
‘Till next time!
