If you decided to have a three-day staycation, here are 7 Signs you need to escape the city today and take a quick day trip:
1. You catch yourself swearing more than usual. If you’re worried your child’s first word might be something he can get banned from preschool for, you might want to escape the city for the weekend.
2. You’ve turned the occasional kicking of a cab into a national sport. Listen, I am the first to say kick the cab if they try to run you and your stroller over while you have the right away. But if you catch yourself pausing in the middle of the crosswalk just WAITING for a chance to yell or kick, you might want to escape the city for the weekend.
3. You spent more hours on the BQE this week than at your actual desk. If you’ve resorted to making phones call from your car illegally while sitting in rush hour, maybe you want to escape the city for the weekend. (I do not endorse driving and using phones in NYC!)
4. You’re starting to feel more like the hunchback of Notre Dame from lugging a stroller up and down subway steps while men rush past to get to work on time. Yeah, you might want to escape the city for the weekend.
5. If you find yourself purposely walking through Times Square at rush hour on the way home to take out your aggression shoving tourists, you might want to escape the city for the weekend.
6. If you just spent the last two hours circling your block for a parking spot and said F THIS – I’ll take the $150 hydrant ticket, you might want to escape the city for the weekend.
7. If you come home to find out your monthly Con Ed electric bill and Time Warner cable bill combined cost more than your four-figure rent, you might want to escape the city for the weekend.
