As if shopping in New York City wasn’t a hit to your wallet as is, the holidays really take it out on your bank account with their holiday markets and pop-ups. But let’s be honest – that’s why we live here and we love all these cool things only being a short cab or subway ride away. For this holiday season, there are three that should really be on your radar.
1. Jacques Penné – A JC Penney Holiday Boutique
This JC Penney holiday pop-up shop is SO FAB you’re going to wish it was permanent. Who is this JCP they’re showcasing anyways because we want them to come and re-decorate our entire apartment. This full shop is all in rose-gold theme from shiny wine glasses ($9) to the Nicole Richie karaoke microphone ($20). The best part? Everything is super affordable – did you hear it’s only $9 for a set of chic wine glasses? Plus they have some serious stock in here people – I even scooped up an Atari pre-filled with over 100 of the original games for only $60.
Bonus – you can meet actress Laura Marano, starring in the record-breaking Lady Bird movie out in theatres now; Danielle Bernstein of WeWoreWhat and artists and social influencers Brooklyn and Bailey will also be held at the pop-up.
12/8, 5 – 7 p.m.: Brooklyn and Bailey
12/9, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Laura Marano
12/9, 2 – 4 p.m.: Danielle Bernstein
Location: 446 Broadway (between Howard and Grand). Through December 10 but the online store is open until January 7, 2018.
2. Squishables
If you haven’t heard of these lovable hugable stuffed items, you’re living under a rock. They have a pop-up shop here in NYC that brags having exclusive items only for this shop! Who doesn’t want a nice fluffy piece of bacon under their tree this year! Or a pineapple or pancakes.
Location: 430 W Broadway (between Prince and Spring). Through December 22 11am–8pm.
3. FAO Schwartz
I actually heard this pop-up isn’t all that grand as we supposedly though – but who cares – FAO IS BACK IN NYC! What is more festive than that!? They may not have the full spread of the enormous toy store across Fifth Avenue, but you’ll still be able to pick up some sweet holiday swag for under the tree. PLUS – we heard a rumor that they’re moving to mid-town in 2018 – right in Rockefeller Center! It won’t be as big as their original, but will be big enough for the floor piano to take up permanent residence.
Location: Inside Bergdorf Goodman (754 5th Ave at 58th St). Through December 31.
